How does the devastation brought from Typhoon Haiyan
make you feel?
To be honest, all I ever thought about this typhoon was that it let us have an extra holiday. After thinking about it further, and gathering various information about this incident, I can't help but start to feel guilty about my past responses and actions. I and probably a lot of people who were not or weakly damaged by this catastrophe would not have thought about the different possibilities out there, where thousands were suffering in our place, and losing lives. It was a chance for me to reflect on my thoughts and realize the true issue at hand.
How should people prepare for and respond to disasters like
Typhoon Haiyan?
Government should work harder to prepare for these kinds of circumstances in advance. Although they did prepare for this Typhoon, their efforts were not enough to cover and save all the lost lives.
However at the same time, the people should not be so reliant on the government; they must find ways to survive and must refrain from staying idle until the real thing strikes them.
Why do people live in vulnerable areas?
Most people living in those areas have no other choice but to live in those areas. Largely it is because of their work, having to fish and farm near their homes and etc. Another reason would be, because these people are not from the affluent class, and they do not have the ability to move their homes whenever they want to.
